What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin derived from a passage by Cicero, used as placeholder text since the 1500s. Designers use it because it has a natural word-length distribution — so layouts look realistic — without readable content distracting from the design itself.
When to use it
Website mockups, print layouts, presentation drafts, theme previews, and anywhere you need "content-shaped" text before the real copy arrives.
