Why embed images as Base64?
A Base64 data URI turns an image into a text string you can drop straight into your HTML <img src="…"> or CSS background:url(…). This removes a separate file request, which can speed up small icons and logos and makes a page fully self-contained.
When to use it (and when not to)
Great for tiny images (icons, logos under ~5 KB) and email templates. Avoid it for large photos — Base64 adds about 33% to the size and can't be cached separately. Your image is processed entirely in your browser.
