Know your earnings before you publish
Amazon KDP pays differently by format. Kindle 70% plan (for books priced $2.99–$9.99) pays 70% of list price minus a small delivery fee based on file size. 35% plan pays 35% with no delivery fee and no price limit. Paperbacks pay a flat 60% of list price minus Amazon's printing cost (which depends on page count and ink).
The pricing sweet spot
For most ebooks, $2.99–$9.99 on the 70% plan maximizes royalty. Below $2.99 you're forced to the 35% plan. Use this calculator to test prices before you hit publish.
